Timber Secondary Glazing for Sash Windows

TSWM has developed a timber secondary glazing system specifically designed for installation on wooden sash windows where heat preservation and sound insulation is required but space to fit a conventional secondary glazing system is not available and when the way it looks is more important than the way it performs.

If you live in a home with sash windows you cannot get away from the fact that the thought of fitting any secondary glazing can be almost unthinkable. You want the benefit of additional warmth, saving on energy costs, and reducing both noise and condensation but dread the visual impact of something that can make your windows look ugly, bulky and difficult to use.

Our customers say that they like our system because it provides the best compromise that they can find between looks and performance. It looks pretty good, (compared to the alternatives available it is positively stunning!) it is easy to use, and works well.

In addition we can supply each window individually hand painted to match the decoration of your existing windows, this means that they will blend in to the point where they can almost look like part of the original window frame.

Why should you consider fitting TSWM timber secondary glazing?

  • It is made of timber and can be painted to match your existing colour scheme which means it looks good and does not stand out.
  • It is good at reducing noise and in tests has been proven to reduce noise by up to 75% - which can mean a good night sleep for you and your family
  • It will stop draughts and reduce radiated heat loss – keeping your home warmer and lowering your heating bill.
  • It is cheaper and less disruptive than fitting new windows – saving you money and unwanted redecoration necessitated by fitting new windows
  • It has a slim, non-intrusive design and is easily installed and removed – which means it is suitable for fitting in listed buildings and conservation areas because it usually does not require planning permission.
  • It is light to handle and easy to use -which means that you can access your windows easily if you wish to open them or clean them to keep them looking good.
  • It can help to reduce condensation –meaning a clearer view out of the window on those cold winter mornings.
